They can use the gamepad to accelerate, brake, slide and use turbo boost. Players control the bike by using either the control stick or D-pad. Players can choose from one of six riders, each with their own pre-set handling attributes. World Rally is fine as well for a more classic-styled title, though I prefer 64 overall myself.Top: Canyon Chasm track with stunt, Excite 3D, Editor original Excitebikeīottom: Soccer, Desert Track, Track Editor Play it.Īs for the newer Excite games, Excite Truck and Bots on the Wii are fun, but aren't serious like 64, not nearly they're lighter, less substantial games. Excitebike 64 is one of the better examples of 'when Nintendo works with a developer it results in better games than they could make on their own' that there is. #Excitebike 64 soccer ps2#but as they had left Nintendo by that point and didn't have Nintendo's assistance, the game, Nitro Bike for PS2 and Wii, didn't end up all that great. I guess I could also mention that the same studio, Left Field, tried again at a motorcycle game some years later. Really, the only negative things I can say about the game are that High-Res mode runs choppily so I play in low-rez instead (and this is the only high-res-supported N64 game I have that I don't run in high resolution), and that the arena tracks aren't as fun to play or as great looking as the outdoor ones and there are quite a few of them, but that's about it. The N64 has some of the best racing games ever, and Excitebike 64 is on that list for sure. it's a really great game, one of the best. the game has a huge featureset (of the bonus modes Hill Climb is my favorite, but they're all good), great graphics particularly in the outdoor tracks, very good track designs again especially in those outdoor tracks, great gameplay with fantastic handling and a perfectly-designed boost system, and more. It's probably still my favorite motorcycle racing game ever. Yeah, Excitebike 64 is a really fantastic game.
